Oct. 29, 2016: Seton Hall Prep defeats Montclair 31-24

The Seton Hall Prep Pirates earned their second win of the season 31-24 against Montclair on Senior Day Oct. 29, 2016.

The Prep scored 17 unanswered after falling down 7-0 early in the first half, but found themselves in a tie game with only a couple of minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

The Prep’s dual-threat backfield featuring quarterbacks Aidan Gilman and Matt Colantuono got the job done late, and a QB sneak gave The Prep a 31-24 advantage that would stand.

Coach Vito Campanile attributed the big win to his team’s character and resilience.

“The difference with our kids is their character,” Campanile said. “I think they give ‘Hazard Zet Forward’ the meaning. They never ever back down no matter what the challenge is.”

Gilman finished the day with 136 yards and two touchdowns through the air, while Colantuono added 69 yards and a touchdown pass of his own.

The Prep will wrap up their regular season with a tough road game against Bergen Catholic Saturday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m.
