Seton Hall Prep Football falls to 0-5 after a devastating loss to Delbarton High School, 23-19 in West Orange Friday night.
The Prep jumped out to an early 7-3 lead and took a 13-9 lead into halftime in a game that was mostly back and forth.
Delbarton scored the lone touchdown in the third quarter, giving them a 16-13 lead going into a wild fourth quarter.
The Prep’s freshman quarterback Matt Colantuono found Andrew Perez for a 52-yard touchdown with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game, giving The Prep a 19-16 lead that would remain until the final minutes of the game.
Delbarton fumbled in Seton Hall territory with only a few minutes remaining, and Mike Mughetto’s recovery seemingly sealed the game for The Prep to get their first win.
Unfortunately for The Prep, they had trouble snapping the ball on a fourth-down punt with just two minutes remaining, and Delbarton recovered at Seton Hall’s 34-yard line and took full advantage of their opportunity.
Davis Bell threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Cole Kreshpane with under two minutes to play, giving Delbarton a 23-19 lead that would stay put for the rest of the ball game.
