Seton Hall Prep Football falls to 0-3 after losing to St. Peter’s Prep 42-14 at Caven Point in Jersey City Saturday, Sept. 24.
Seton Hall fell behind 21-0 early in the first half, but scored a touchdown to trim the lead to 21-7 going into halftime after senior safety Michael Mughetto intercepted a pass and brought it back to St. Peter’s 25 yard line. Senior Paul Theobald then pounded it in from the one yard line to cut it to 21-7 going into half.
The Pirates opened the second half with a 78-yard drive to cut the lead to one score after Theobald scored on a 59-yard run to make it 21-14 in the third quarter.
St. Peter’s then scored three unanswered touchdowns, one in the third and two in the fourth, to make the score 42-14.
Following the game, SHP head coach Vito Campanile commented, “our team’s attitude and leadership has been tremendous and they are as tough as any kids I have ever coached. We never quit.”
Theobald said,”we were outsized up front but we just keep fighting every play. We are not going to back down from anybody. We are going to keep coming to play every week and next week we will be ready for Pope John.”
