NFL Rookie Minicamps are officially underway, and football is getting closer and closer. There’s still a ton of preseason activity ahead, but I want to take an early look at the future odds that have been posted via Bovada. I’ll post an updated article as the season approaches, but here’s what sticks out to me so far for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Corey Davis +800 (8/1)
- I love the Titans’ first draft pick in Corey Davis. I think Marcus Mariota now has a complete offense to work with in Tennessee; the Titans can run the football, protect the quarterback, and now presumably have a #1 receiver in Davis (with a solid surrounding cast). I think Davis is the missing piece in this offense, and I expect a big year out of him.
Evan Engram +2500 (25/1)
- 25/1 odds are very attractive considering how often the Giants pass and how many weapons defenses have to prepare for outside of the rookie. I think the Engram draft pick was a good one by the Giants, and he should provide some serious threat to defenses that the Giants haven’t had in the TE position in years.
Joe Mixon +1200 (12/1)
- Mixon has some heavy baggage coming into the league, but it’s no surprise he still went as early as the second round. He’s a good football player, and he should help a Bengals team that struggled offensively last year. He has some competition in the backfield with Gio Bernard and Jeremy Hill, but I think they’ll figure out a way to utilize him on offense enough for him to put up big numbers.
John Ross +1400 (14/1)
- I think at least one of the Bengals’ rookies will be a big part of a rebound season on offense, and Ross may be the better bet at 14/1. He gives Andy Dalton a speedy deep threat, plus he has the ability to be productive underneath. If it plays out the way Cincinnati envisioned it when drafting him with their first-round pick, he will be an excellent compliment to AJ Green.
