Last Tuesday, I conducted the first ever Sports Trivia/Jeopardy activity at the Solana Roseland, a senior living community designed to help residents live as independently as possible with a lifestyle that is intellectually stimulating, physically invigorating and emotionally fulfilling. It was a great experience.
I was host for about 30 residents at the beautiful Solana, all who were 70 years old and up. I conducted my sports questions accordingly to their age group. I came up with five categories shown in the image below:
The residents were incredible to me. It was my first time doing something like this, and coming up with questions were difficult considering I had no idea how knowledgable they were on each respected category. Thankfully, they worked together in groups and participated fully for the entire hour I was there. Some knew the answer to every question, while some had no idea what I was even talking about. Regardless, they made my experience easier and more fun by engaging in conversation and being open to the idea of learning about the history of sports. They made me feel comfortable and welcomed, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity the Solana gave me.
